George Washington, bust portrait with laurel wreath, facing left completed by Saint-Mémin, Charles Balthazar Julien Fevret de, 1770-1852, artist. This portrait was created several months after Washington’s inauguration, but provides an interesting look into how the president was perceived and an even more interesting comparison with the more modest images of Washington taking his oath of office.
